Gina Colaluca

Associate Attorney

Gina has extensive experience managing both contested and uncontested divorces, custody disputes, child support matters, cases involving domestic violence, and civil appeals. In 2017, Gina successfully argued an attorney fee issue at the Illinois Supreme Court in The Marriage of Goesel.

Prior to joining Buchanan Law Group, Gina operated her own firm as a solo practitioner, where she exclusively handled Family Law and Domestic Violence cases and appeals. Before opening her own firm, Gina worked with other established Family Law firms in the Chicago area, giving her the wealth of experience needed to help you with your case.

Gina is driven and competitive, but also practical and compassionate. She understands that each case is different and requires a unique approach. With this in mind, Gina is committed to handling your case with a personal touch. When you work with Gina, you can expect her to give your case the attention it needs.

In 2012, Gina graduated Magna Cum Laude from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. During law school, Gina served as a Lead Articles Editor on The John Marshall Law Review Editorial Board (Fall 2011, Spring 2012) and also obtained CALI awards for Criminal Law (Spring 2010) and Children and the Legal System (Spring 2011) for the highest grade in these classes.

During law school, Gina gained valuable experience as a law clerk for a boutique family law firm, an intern for the Department of Children and Family Services, and an intern for the Domestic Relations Division of the Office of the Public Guardian.

Prior to beginning her legal career, Gina attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where she graduated with Highest Distinction in 2009. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English and obtained minors in Psychology, Music, and Political Science.

Throughout her legal career, Gina has been honored by Super Lawyers as an “Illinois Rising Star” in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. She has likewise been honored by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys for “10 Best Client Satisfaction” in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

In her spare time, Gina enjoys attending concerts and music festivals, watching hockey, visiting her family in Detroit, and hiking with her dog, Pixie.
